Christmas Tree Quilt Block

Create this Christmas Tree Block for the festive season.


Block measures 7-1/2" x 10-1/2"


Materials

  • 4 fat quarters or scraps of assorted green prints for tree.

  • 5 fat quarters or scraps of assorted white or cream prints for background.

  • 1 scrap fabric for brown tree trunk.


Cut from green prints

  • 1 (2-1/2" x 4-1/2") A rectangle

  • 1 (2-1/2" x 5-1/2" ) C rectangle

  • 1 (2-1/2" x 6-1/2" ) E rectangle

  • 1 (2-1/2" x 7-1/2" ) G rectangle


Cut from white/cream prints


  • 2 (2-1/2" x 4"). B rectangles

  • 2 (2-1/2" x 3-1/2") D rectangles

  • 2 (2-1/2" x 3" ). F rectangles

  • 2 (2-1/") H squares

  • 2 (2-1/2" x 3-1/2") J rectangles


Cut from brown scrap fabric


  • 1 (1-1/2" x 2-1/2") I rectangle





Assemble the Block


  1. Referring to image, draw a diagonal line on rectangle B and place it perpendicular to rectangle A right sides together. Sew on the line. Repeat on the other end of rectangle A.



  2. For the next rows, 2-4, repeat the process with 2 D's and 1 C, 2 F's and 1 E, and 2 H's and 1 G.

  3. For the bottom row, join one J rectangle to each side of the tree trunk (I).



  4. Join rows to complete the Christmas tree.
