Quilty Craft by Jen-Quilting Days

Welcome to my Quilting Blog, where you will find useful tips and tricks to try with your next quilt project.

Check Your Seam Allowance

When beginning your next project, take a few moments to check and make sure your seam allowance is a true quarter inch (1/4") as most projects call for this seam allowance. If your seam is not the correct width, it can cause problems down the road when assembling pieces and the whole quilt. Think of your quilt like a puzzle, it has to fit together correctly!

Measure your seam

The space between your stitching line and the edge of your fabric is the seam allowance. Pick up your seam gauge and measure this space. Remember, even your 1/4" seam guide on your machine may be off a smidge, I now know mine is because I measured. Make adjustments to be sure you are sewing a true 1/4" seam.

I hope you have found this tip useful and will join me again next time.

Happy Quilting!
